Filigree Technique

Lao Feng Xiang Jewelry’s 24K Gold Filigree technique was designated an Intangible Cultural Heritage, an honor presented by the Chinese government and in partnership with UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). This fabrication technique, highlights 24K gold in a very special way, allowing for delicate and intricate details to shine through. Each piece of gold is hand pulled to create narrow and thin strips to be refashioned and hand soldered into stunning works of art to be worn or displayed. On average it takes ten years for an apprentice to master the artistry and complicated method of a filigree craftsman. Each handcrafted piece becomes rarer as it is challenging to find fresh talent to learn this time-honored craft.
