At Lao Feng Xiang, the ginkgo leaf is rendered in pure 24K gold through filigree, each vein of the leaf drawn in fine gold wire that fans outward from a single point. The openwork structure lets light pass through the form the way it passes through a real leaf held to the sun. A single natural diamond sits at the center where the veins converge, the precise point of origin for the entire composition. A swan neck bail curves above the leaf with the same care given to the piece itself. At 3.432g it is delicate in appearance and deliberate in craft.
