The phoenix is the highest symbol of grace, resilience and feminine power in Chinese tradition. At Lao Feng Xiang, it is given a medallion worthy of what it represents.
The phoenix rises from a field of hand-engraved scale texture, its form sculpted in pure 24K antique gold with the depth and movement of a master carver working at the height of their craft. A continuous pavé band of 84 natural diamonds totaling 0.573ct encircles the phoenix, separating the central composition from the outer scalloped frame. Nine rubies are set across the frame at measured intervals, each one carrying the deep red of vitality, honor and fortune in Chinese tradition. The scalloped border is itself a composition of scrolling filigree, cloud forms and floral motifs that would stand alone as finished work. A diamond-set cylindrical bail connects the medallion to its gold cord. At 28.547g, this is one of the most significant pieces in the 1848 Collection. It is a piece made to mark something.
Part of the 1848 Collection, where the highest standard of gold artistry meets the deepest registers of Chinese cultural meaning.
