The peony has been the flower of prosperity and honor in Chinese tradition for over a thousand years. At Lao Feng Xiang, it is given its most permanent form.
The front face of this medallion is a composition of exceptional complexity. Openwork filigree petals radiate from a central diamond cluster, each layer of gold worked with the precision that defines the 1848 Collection at its most refined. Forty-three natural diamonds totaling 0.181ct are distributed across the face, some anchoring the center, others punctuating the outer ring with measured brilliance. The reverse carries an engraved sacred floral wheel with six petals, each containing a hand-inscribed Chinese character, a second complete composition on a piece most will only ever see from the front. A lotus bail connects the medallion to its gold cord. At 13.751g, nothing about this piece was left unconsidered.
Part of the 1848 Collection, where the highest standard of gold artistry meets the deepest registers of Chinese cultural meaning.
