The crown of the piece is worked entirely in filigree, a wheel pattern radiating out in fine wire lace above a locket shaped like a scalloped cloud. That locket isn't fixed shut. It opens, and inside sits a carved Guanyin, kept private until the piece is unclasped rather than displayed outright. Most pendants say everything on their face. This one holds something back until it's asked to give it up.
