This hulu is built in tiers rather than one smooth curve, each section finished in fine filigree scrollwork before narrowing into the next. The crown alone carries as much detail as the body beneath it, so the piece reads as layered rather than simple. Hulu, spoken aloud, echoes fu lu, fortune and prosperity together, the same old pun carried in a more elaborate form here.
