The phoenix sits carved into a round medallion, its body worked in raised relief against a scrolled border, the whole disc framed by a decorative cap above it. Below, the piece changes entirely, a dense red silk tassel falling loose and unstructured where the gold above is fixed and contained. The two halves don't share a texture. One is carved and permanent, the other soft and moving.
